Safeguarding in Blackball

The South African Blackball Federation (SABF) is deeply committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for everyone involved in Blackball. Safeguarding is a cornerstone of our mission to promote a respectful and positive atmosphere across all levels of our sport, from players and coaches to referees and fans.

As an official member of the International Blackball Federation (IBF), we uphold strict safeguarding standards and work diligently to protect the well-being of all participants, especially minors and vulnerable individuals.

Our Safeguarding Commitment

SABFโ€™s safeguarding policies are built around four key principles:

  • Respect: We maintain a culture of respect among players, officials, and staff, ensuring everyone feels valued and supported.
  • Protection: We implement proactive measures to protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults within Blackball activities.
  • Training: Our coaches, referees, and volunteers undergo safeguarding training to recognize, prevent, and respond to any issues.
  • Accountability: We are transparent in our safeguarding procedures, ensuring accountability at every level of the organization.

Safeguarding Policies and Procedures

Our safeguarding procedures include:

  • Code of Conduct: All SABF participants are expected to adhere to our Code of Conduct, which outlines acceptable behaviour and prohibits discrimination, harassment, and abuse.
  • Training Programs: We provide safeguarding training for referees, coaches, and volunteers, equipping them to handle issues appropriately and sensitively.
  • Reporting Mechanisms: SABF offers confidential channels for reporting safeguarding concerns. We encourage anyone witnessing or experiencing unacceptable behaviour to speak up, and all reports are taken seriously and acted upon promptly.

Safeguarding is everyoneโ€™s responsibility, and we welcome members of the Blackball community to participate actively in maintaining a safe sporting environment.
